4. Helen Lu (@the.moneyminimalist)

Is retiring at 65 a thing of the past? For influencer Helen Lu, this question built her a platform of nearly 25,000 followers. Lu planned, hustled, and saved for years so she could quit her 9 to 5 and take a gap year from working. She also is saving to retire early, and now she’s here to teach you how to do the same.

Helen, who goes by @the.moneyminimalist on Instagram, is an advocate of FIRE– or Financial Independence, Retire Early. This movement is gaining popularity in male-dominated financial spaces, but Lu saw a need for alternative discussions about work and money geared specifically toward women.

Lu uses her Instagram platform to teach women how to have multiple income streams, save wisely, and work toward, well, not working. If you are interested in financial independence, retiring early, taking a year off from work, or all of the above, you’ve got to follow Lu. You can also check out this interview between Thamina Stoll and Helen Lu for more insight into both influencers!

For example, for women in domestic violence situations, being able to leave can come down to having independent sources of income. Also, women who save and have money in the bank can leave oppressive work environments, which is unfortunately common.

If you want to live a life of comfort and luxury while still saving money and building personal wealth, then Selma is your guide. With podcasts, free resources, and funny, relatable, and educational Instagram posts, @bitchimbudgeting will leave you with tangible budgeting tips and confidence in your ability to build wealth and stay in your power while still having some fun.
